We were watching ET with our granddaughter. When she came back it was gone from the playlist. This also happened with a snooker championship we were catching up with.

I'm guessing these were live programmes and you didn't + them?

Live programmes you don't add to Playlist don't get cloud recorded.

If you did but there was only a broadcast licence and not an on demand licence then you won't see it.

After that period they disappear. This is the same on iPlayer on all platforms, not just Glass.

But if the broadcast date was a week before then...

Where children are concerned, I'd strongly advise investing a few pounds in a DVD player and box full of charity shop optical disks to avoid such trauma. These tend to be better value for all the 'making of' features too.

@Chocolate+Granny

You've come across the biggest difference between a streaming service and a broadcast service.

With a streaming service such as Sky Glass, any content you add to your playlist is only there for as long as the original owner of that content has the licence for it. In your case, the owner was the BBC who had the licence to stream E.T. for 30 days on iPlayer from the first day of transmission. After that 30 days, it is removed, regardless of when you added it to your playlist.

With a broadcast service, such as Sky Q or Freeview, you have much more control over content, because you can physically record it to a hard drive. If you had recorded E.T. when it was broadcast to a Sky Q box or to a Freeview recorder, it would remain there until you decided to delete it. The broadcaster cannot delete things you have recorded from a broadcast.

If Sky Glass is your only source of TV then it's something you'll have to get used to I'm afraid.

Well, Sky could. They just don't, presumably because the broadcast channel owners aren't required by the content providers to insist on it.
