I'm very green and turn anything off when not required, so a choice would.have been nice.

That said - I understand what you're saying completely and that glass/puck use is a very different experience.

I've not been overly successful with the vocie commands as it frequently comes up with exactly what I've said, but "sorry I can't do this here" seems to be the frequent response on screen!

I may have to revert to an ipad streaming via an app, then plugged into the normal TV via dongle/hdmi, which seems slightly long way to go round what should be a sinple choice.

I checked the batteries when the remote first was unresponsive - reseated the batteries and checked for any of the paper.

I'll persevere as I do like the experience otherwise (especially the versatility of having the pucks wherever you want, without a big box or wires!) and I love the glass being all in one - I see plenty of benefits but hope to see improvements over the coming months on the niggles.
Sky Glass/Puck Auto play & bugs!

Sky Puck won't stay on overnight - does it go to sleep regardless of the settings you choose?

I need the TV on without manual turning the puck back on and then having to re-select a channel to watch.

I have checked and all auto standby settings are turned off, but it still won't stay on.

I thought about programming a WiFi plug to turn the puck off at the mains, then powering on again, but then I can't see a way of getting the puck to auto-play anything, as it displays the Sky home screen.when powered on.

Aside from this - the pucks and the remotes are simply buggy, playing a simple channel is too many clicks for my liking and the playlist "functionality" is a nightmare.

The remotes frequently need re-pairing, when the Puck or remote freezes (frequently!), power-cycling the Puck takes forever, it just won't easily turn on.

The remotes don't always light up when you pick them up or move them and don't get me started on the voice search, or lack of!

I've had Sky Glass and 2 pucks for less than 2 days and whilst I love some of the features, it is driving me mad. Apart from being neat and tidy, no wires etc, I am fast preferring my single basic Sky+ setup and Magic eye!!

Sky glass 45"

2 x Pucks

WiFi speed 50Mbps

Whole home

@PurpleMetz due to power saving settings the units put up a message saying they will go into standby if they detect no remote input or have no video output ie you are watching another source than the puck. If you dont respond they go into standby. Not seen any way to disable that.

The pucks are not designed for the way you want to use them as they require user input. You could programme a remote system to send a keep alive message. I can control the Glass and TV with my Logitech Harmony hub and could write a macro to switch the hub back to the last viewed channel which I think would be home, down, left, select..

If you dont use voice search then leave the remote unpaired ie press 4 and 6 together for 10 seconds which switches it to ir mode which has a full set of commands - I used this to teach the Logitech the ir codes to use

I have not had a problem with remotes loosing their bluetooth setting and I have 4. Check that the batteries are properly seated it is possible that in removing the parer slip they are lose..

General advice to anyone switching from another Sky system is that Glass is very different and cannot replicate how you used your old system. Give it time and to understand how it works however Glass is not primarily designed for watching linear TV channels but to be easy to use for downloads which is how increasingly people view TV.

Hi @PurpleMetz glad you are getting to grips with the new system its quite a switch from Sky+..

Glass's Voice system like all of the others is variable but the Sky system is far better than some I use - Mercedes I am looking at you - which are worse than useless. I tend just to name a channel or programme rather than adding "go to" or "find" and it seems to work. One oddity is "BBC1" didn't work it had to be "BBC1 South HD" in my case - that might have been fixed though. I have got used to going left from the home landing pointvto find last viewed channel.

Sky are expected to release another update fairly soon and hopefully they will fix some of the issues like no Dolby Vision on the pucks, ethernet stability etc

Best of luck but if you get stuck do post.

Thank you @Chrisee - still learning!

I remain hopeful for the next update- fingers crossed they can also fix the annoying WiFi connection errors too (when it switches itself off and I have no option but to power cycle the puck), when it powers back up, it errors saying there is no WiFi connection - it lies! This happens every time!

I don't want cables everywhere, so I won't plug in the ethernet as it is the very reason I wanted the pucks!

Once again, I appreciate the help, advice and your time.

As it happens @PurpleMetz I am fighting exactly the same issue on my own set up and I know enough that it isnt my network quite why the units are losing connection defeats me as the system lacks even basic diagnostics or manual settings as assigning a fixed IP address would probably sort it . Sky have really messed up with this system and my own patience is nearing its limit. 🤬

It is frustrating as when it works the system is excellent but it is far too fragile. Oh by the way ethernet set ups have their own challenges I have tried both. .

The Puck takes a bit of time to 'handshake' with the router, even with Sky Hub. If you get no Internet just wait a bit and press home. I tend to turn the Puck on and then do something before I try watching it.

The Puck doesn't just have to connect to WiFi but also successfully verify what you're subscription is to let you watch anything.

It and Glass will throw up a looks like no one is in the room, Sky is committed to environmental blah and will swith off message regardless of your settings.
