TP-Link Archer C80 AC1900 Third Party Router Help.

I have had the router setup for a few weeks but have been having a few issues. The router is connected directly to the ONT and all is showing as connected and working as it should.

I set it up exactly as others have described which is basically just enabling ipv6 as router mode and having it set to static.

The problem I am having is with certain apps on phones not loading, some sites not working correctly and the likes of my echo show blank screening when asked a question. I have troubleshooted with the following:
- connected echo show to my phone via personal hotspot - works perfect. reconnected to wifi, black screen!!
- switched phones to mobile data to test apps and sites - all work perfect. no issues.

This is where it gets weird. I decided to fully reset the router using the reset button on the back. Once it booted back up it was showing as connected and the internet online. Ran some tests and sure enough everything was working as it should. echo show, apps, everythng. It disconnected not to long after and in order to get it back online I had to do ipv6 steps again. Once changed it reverted back to not working again.

If I change the Get IPv6 Address to auto everything works as it should but the WAN constantly shows 'connecting' and then disconnects the internet.

I have checked the log and all i see of relevance is this:
WARNING 0days, 00:00:31, [dhcps]Lease host name not found.

Any help would be greatly appreiciated.

For a tp link this should be the method for dhcpv6 prefix delegation

Select the WAN interface section of router GUI, then select dual-stack option WAN interface for IPv4 & IPv6, for the address select DHCPv6 (dynamic option not static), enable prefix delegation (PD) on WAN and then select SLACC for IPv6 creation method on LAN interface

On the wan screen select

Ipv4/ipv6

Select dhcpv6 dynamic

Enable pd or prefix delegation

On the lan screen select

Stateless or slaac

My internet connection type is set to Dynamic IP (there is also static, pppoe, l2tp, pptp)

Can't see anywhere on wan for ipv4/ipv6 or anything on lan for stateless or slaac

Not from what i can see and upon some research (googling) I can see on tp-links forum that somebody asked a similar questio regarding SLAAC, SLAAC+Stateless DHCPv6, DHCPv6 and it looks like its all intergrated into one setting bizzarely.

Would appear that a support ticket to tp link is in order

Covering can the following be acheived on the c80

On the wan screen select

Ipv4/ipv6

Select dhcpv6 dynamic

Enable pd or prefix delegation

I think your right on a support ticket with tp link. I've just checked the firmware and it would seem the us variation received a new update recently addressing some of the ipv6 problems so I'll contact them and see what they say.

The only option I have to change under Lan is pd proxy, prefix delegation or custom prefix

I downloaded the manual for c80 (eu) just can't find anything . I'll a wee butchers again tomorrow

A post from may 21 had mentioned ipv6 f/w upgrade don't know if it was the same you read

I appreciate your help. Hopefully its something simple.

I've temporarily set the wan to pppoe for the time being so it's sort of connecting and disconnecting but the internet itself is fine (for now)

@ThePiedPiper I have the exact same router as you and exact same symptoms (my test is BBC news app not loading on my phone). I can disable ipv6 and it works flawlessly for about 24hours, where I have to set it to static again 😓.

Let me know if you find a fix!

It's been bugging me for weeks wondering what the heck was going on. Glad I'm not going crazy now ha.

I'll contact TP-Link see what they come up with and report back. Until then I think I'm just going to have to continue messing with the wan setting.

You'd think as technology gets smarter setting up would be easier but hey ho. The price of wanting perfection.

I think the one person to "successfully" get it working marked his own answer as solution and was never heard of again. No doubt suffered the same fate. The dhcpv6 needs to be dynamic and everything else as above

You have set up DHCP PD for the LAN that should be SLACC. eg: you need to set up DHCPv6 PD for the WAN internet-facing interface for IPv6 to work.

@mae-3 Unfortunately there is no settings for that.

These are the IPV6 settings:

The only way it successfully connects is by setting WAN Connection type to "Normal" and "Get IPv6 Address" to "Static". That causes a bunch of weird symptoms (google homes not responding, some apps and websites not loading).

Nothing to configure dhcpv6 dynamic or SLAAC 😭.

I agree, I think only option is to reach out to TPLink for support, or buy a new router...
