Sky set up issue

Im confused.

Trying to set up sky. I'll add some pictures hopefully someone can help me😩

@Miss+l+dyke You need to wait for your image to be released, this is explained when you post in the forum.

As requested please can you advise what your issue is the photos don't tell us what is wrong. Without any useful information the forum can't even begin to help.

OK: that's hardware for an FTTP ('ultrafast') broadband connection. The smaller white Openreach unit on the floor is the ONT where the fibre-optic cable arrives. The larger one on the wall is a battery backup unit (BBU) for the ONT: you can ignore this if you want as Openreach don't fit them any more and they serve no useful purpose if the router isn't on a separate (not-included) battery too.

You need a power connection going into the ONT (smaller box) - use the power cable currently going from a mains socket to the BBU - and then an ethernet connection coming out of the ONT to the WAN ethernet port (#4) on the Sky Hub - again, use the ethernet cable currently going into the BBU.

No problem: glad to help.

For neatness it may be possible to mount the ONT into the enclosure next to the BBU, with the cables running through the cutouts in the base of the box, but be careful not to kink or crush the fibre strand (ending at the green plug) as that's the most fragile component. The enclosure was actually made for a different (older) ONT model which shipped with the BBU (as below), so the internal fixings may not be compatible. Alternatively you could remove the enclosure / BBU entirely and wall mount the ONT directly: that's what Openreach do now with FTTP installations.

Note that if you're using a landline phone (or DECT base station) for voice calls, that plugs into the telephone socket marked 'UK' on the Sky Hub.
