Turning off ipv6

Sorry if this has been asked previously, I couldn't find a useful answer.
got a Sony tv with Netflix etc.

poor connection to router from tv, distance not an issue. On the Sony site it says turn off ipv6 on the lan.
im turning it off in router settings, but it keeps on turning itself back on.
does broadband shield need turning off? Somethings interfering, any help gratefully received

A poor WiFi connection to a TV will not be solved by switching IPv6 off. Doing this can only help in very small amount of circumstances where connections cannot be established at all.

The tv has full Wi-Fi signal. However the connection is running well below 1mb/sec. Approx 240-320 res. On the vaio forum it said this can be fixed by turning off ipv6 on the lan side, but as I said it won't turn off and turns itself off back on.
I have a (real) 60mb/s connection, if I connect through vpn it works perfect, (which forces the connection to use ipv4), but I have to move the vpn to connect to the tv, which means it won't work on the server without cat cables running around the house.
I'm assuming it is the shield that's the problem, but don't want to turn that off due to having a 13yo in the house.

Odd never heard something like that where speed can be affected. I've also had no issues switching IPv6 off. Are you doing it via ethernet cable?
