Which router for Ultrafast broadband?

I've currently got the Superfast broadband package with the two Ethernet port ER115 Sky Hub. I'm thinking about upgrading to the Ultrafast package; does this come with the new 4 port SR203 router or would I keep my current router?

@Slider09 you do get the sr203 with Ultrafast over fibre and the nearly identical sr204 for Ultrafast over copper - the difference is the sr204 has a G.fast modem the sr203 lacks.

Worth noting that one reason the different router is required is that typically with Ultrafast voice calls are delivered using VOIP to the phone socket on the Hub, and so any internal phone extension wall sockets cease to function.

Thanks all. It would be the standard Ultrafast package (150 mbps), not the full fat "Ultrafast Plus" package.

Every since Sky upgraded me to the "Superfast" I haven't been happy with the Wi-Fi coverage or stability. Occasional drop outs where the broadband connection drops, but the router still shows full connection (ie all lights are still green). Hoping a new router / package may fix this.

If you currently have the horizontal Q Hub (110/115) then the Sky Broadband Hub (204) should be an improvement.

Hi there I've just renewed my contract with sky bb to ultrafast from fibre (I'm sure it's same service with a different name) but they have sent me the router with only 2 ports.. my question is do I need the sr203 or the sr204 router as it appears they support different types of fibre connections?

Either form of Ultrafast (G.fast or FTTP) requires a Sky Broadband Hub, not a Q Hub.

That would be suitable for Superfast over FTTC, which is the most common domestic broadband technology in the UK, but not for Ultrafast (or Superfast over FTTP)

Worth noting that FTTC to FTTP isn't a renewal, it's a whole different product.

What you may have done is renewed on FTTC by going from 'Fibre Max' or 'Fibre Unlimited' to 'Superfast': those are all the same technology, and the 115 would be an appropriate Hub model.

Sorry my mistake I've just looked and it's super fast not ultra.

can a sr203 or sr204 be used on the super fast package?

Yes, but Sky only supplies that model where the subscriber has added the Broadband Boost supplement (or where the technical provision of the service requires it)

Ok.. I need min 3 ports so can I buy a sr203 sr204 privately and it will work with my super fast connection?

Any such hardware you see on sale shouldn't be there: Sky loans them to subscribers and requires them to be returned if subscription ceases. Buying a small ethernet switch is preferable.

Sorry I didn't explain. I can buy it through sky for £54. The 115 router isnt any good to me as it only two Ethernet ports

I believe so but I've zero interest In the boost just need a router with 4 ports
