I have been having some issues trying to manually connect my sons Nintendo DS Lite to my WIFI. It keeps asking for a WEP Key as opposed to a password. Where can I find a WEP key? Any thoughts?

WEP is an antique (late 1990s) and long-deprecated wireless security protocol which is now considered hopelessly vulnerable, so it isn't available by default from any modern wireless router.

I don't think a WPA2 password is going to work for WEP hardware from 2006 ; )

They just aren't speaking the same language...

It's possible that changing the WiFi security on your Hub to 'mixed-mode' (WPA/WPA2) might enable a connection, as apparently a DS Lite can support WPA (but not WPA2) if you dig into the advanced settings on the DS and enable it there too.

Further reading suggests that while a DS may be capable of WPA, a DS Lite might not be. Unfortunately the DS family is now very old technology, and just not suited for a modern WiFi connection: I guess if you wanted to, sourcing a really old wireless access point (802.11g or earlier) and linking that with your Hub over Ethernet could be an option to provide a WEP signal, but note that this is a potential security risk for the rest of your network.

It's perhaps also worth noting that much in-game online functionality will no longer be available: with that hardware having been discontinued in 2014, the servers providing internet services for it have long-since shut down.

I'm going back a few years but the record for cracking a WEP key with tools readily available on the Internet used to stand at 6 seconds. On the bright-side, they'd need to be close enough to make a stable connection, say 50 m. Frankly, if the device is so old it can only support WEP I'm amazed it's still working.
