Moved from a basic sky broadband package to the ‘super fast broadband’ package. It’s slower

Moved from skys old basic broadband to 'superfast broadband'. Was set up on 20 July. My guaranteed min speed is 29mbps. It's been around 7mbps since setup. Is this to be expected? Or is there anything I need to do? Or is this simply a bad job done by openreach? Thanks

It will take 14 days to determine maximum speed therefore the guarantee only starts after that

What speed were you getting?

How far were you from the exchange?

How far are you from your fttc cabinet.,

You appear to be 3 km from the cabinet it should improve but you'll still be below maximum adsl speed

You are very unlikely to get near that in the next 7-8 days.

@Highlinder Do you think @Neilqwertyuiop should notify sky of a line fault prior to the 14 day initial dlm? Somethings wrong even getting down from 7db ds1 to 3db and ds2 & ds3 coming online this isn't going near minimun guarantee

Options :- notify sky now that we don't think you are going to get minimum guarantee by 3rd August

Or wait until the 3rd to see if it improves significantly to see if you come close to your minimum guarantee

I suspect a call centre script will simply insist the minimum period expires before any challenge can be made.

Thanks everyone for responses. Strange thing is, this is much slower than the previous basic broadband I had neither sky before 20th + very much slower than that with bt before. I'll call and get the ball rolling as that's quite a distance short of the guaranteed 29 minimum! Cheers all again

Just a wee bit of advice. Even though theres instant improvement there may be room for some more. If your cabinet is a 3db g.inp enabled cabinet then there may be a period of extended dlm . Don't reset the router , you may get some line drops but this will be dlm trying to get down to 3db. Happened to me end of june 43Mbps 8.9db. After engineer visit 55Mbps 6db now 60 Mbps 4db still getting the odd line drop as dlm still testing for 3db. Glad its finally sorted 😀🤞👌👍

The only problem is the OP's guaranteed minimum is only 29 Mbps so Sky would have provisioned the line on 40/10 so 40 Mbps will be the max. sync speed.

Is everyone put on profiles these days what happens to someones whose max attainable is 60Mbps but line doesn't support 80Mbps. ? Is that tough luck and you have to take 40Mbps. I would be mortified if someone took my 60Mbps and said sorry you have to go to 40Mbps
