Also worth noting that areas where an altnet supplier has service are quite likely to have to wait longer for Openreach to put in their FTTP infrastucture (if they do that at all) as the Government target for 'ultrafast' doesn't distinguish between providers: once there's availability from anyone, that location is deemed to be covered.

Not sure if anyone else has had this but it seems a company called Trooli is now taking orders for FTTP and as a base is offering 300mbps with install in 6 weeks. Given I am currently stuck at 25-27mbps with Sky and the service is not that reliable I am considering switching.

How long does it normally take for Sky to realise FTTP is available in an area?

Here is what I get, a little confused as its says FTTP is available but has no install process listed.

I think Trooli use Openreach, I am guessing they have just started selling it early to get ahead of BT and Sky

Not sure but I do know that Openreach has been doing a lot of work on local wiring. All the poles now have additional cable roles and boxes with laser sybols attached

@Ben+Picot can confirm Trooli are an Altnet supplier ie they have installed their own fibre network. Sky and the other major ISPs cannot supply services over these networks - you buy a connection from Trooli themselves. Sky curently only supply FTTP over Openreach fibre which you do not have.

Fibre on demand is an offering made a few years back where the customer paid to have fibre laid to their home at a cost normally in 5 figures. In practice it was almost impossible to order again only a few ISPs would even bother Sky never did and Openreach made it extremly difficult yo even het a quote.
