Now I am back on Sky Q, even though these programmes are a 4:3 format, they do not look as squashed as the Glass/Puck, which states to me an issue with the way they are displaying 4:3 content.

My advice to you is raise it with Sky.

I have the same problem with some channels especially discovery science, it displays fine on my Sky glass TV but squashed into 4:3 on the pucks. It looks terrible

@Anfgremlin the issue is how your TV is setting what is known as the Aspect Ratio. If the Puck is set to output in HD or UHD almost all TVs assume the material is in 16:9 widescreen so material in 4:3 ratio gets stretched you maybe lucky thst there is an aspect ratio switch on your TV remote or in the menus to allow you to change this manually.

Most channels add a pair of black bars either side of the image which makes the picture look right as it is in a 16:9 widescreen frame which is what Sky recommend. Some channels like Discovery Science don't as they are still in SD. .

You could change the pucks output to 576i or SD which your TV should switch when watching these channels but you will have to change it back if you want to watch other content in HD or UHD

OK yes. The TV setting, picture size"Aspect Ratio" did nothing exept very slitley made the picture bigger but did not fix. Setting the Sky Puck to 576p DID work. But I do have to manually do this when i change channels back and forth. So I'm taking it because the sky glass TV and the Sky Q multi room box I had Connected before did this automatically. So this is an issue with the Puck not auto changing the resolution 🤔. Please tell me if I got this correct. Trying to get my brain around it all.

@Anfgremlin I am surprised the Q mini worked but your TV may switch aspect ratio automatically when receiving a HD signal (some do most dont) in which case you can set the puck to that resolution - 1080p - which reduces the amount of switching.

Sky would not consider this a fault unfortunately as if the channels followed the guidance properly all content would be in HD and properly presented in a 16:9 framewith sidebars. Some broadcasters - looking at you Discovery - seem unable to follow the guidance.

Strandhely there are people who complain they have to have bars preferring stretchy vision. Its a strange world.

Its a crazy world.

Darn Discovery science making me do something manually, Display your content in 16:9 HD like others do, who has a 4:3 tv these days. Lol 😆 or Sky sort your auto res out on your pucks either would make our lives easier.
