No volume with blue ray player playing through sky glass

Just setup Sky Glass and all is going well until I plugged in my Sony Blu-ray player via hdmi1. Great picture but no sound! I have contacted Sky but they seem none plussed.

Have you tried to adjust the sound settings on the TV? Settings --> Picture & Sound --> Sound --> Digital audio output HDMI.

@AP70 what audio out output had you chosen on the BluRay player. If ir was DTS that definitely wont work as neither will Dolby TrueHD but Dolby Digital should..

Just had the exact same issue with the same blue ray player!

i have just spoken to sky and apparently "they are aware of the issue, and are working hard to resolve this" I was told people are experiencing problems with sound on lots of differnt outputs on hdmi such as games consoles, dvd and blue ray!

nit good enough for the price I have paid for thisbtv

Hi, older Sony Blu-ray players simply aren't compatible with the new sound system. Had to get a Sony UBP-X700 which is completely compatible with Sky Glass technology. Looks and sounds a me amazing.

We also have an older Sony Blu-ray player that won't work with sky glass.
we tried buying a basic newer similar model but that didn't work either. The ub x700 model that is reported to work by another messenger is £199.00 from Currys and £190 from Amazon. It's a big deal to spend nearly £200 on top of costs for sky glass to get something to work.

we have reported this problem to sky and. They are supposedly " working on it to solve it". It has been 5 weeks or so now since we were first told that sky would fix it. Our weekly text from sky saying that are still working on it is not helpful/acceptable.

2 questions

1. does anyone one know of another (cheaper) brand/of blu ray player that does work?

2.is this possible to solve? Or - as a cynic has suggested- is this just a ruse to force people to use the sky streaming service? Many thanks

Try plugging it in to hdmi 2 I have an old LG dvd player with surround sound with a scart to hdmi adaptor and it run with no problem

Thanks for you response. We have tried all three of the HDMI ports. We can't even get a picture. We only get the Sony logo for 2 seconds then everything goes blank with the error message.
no signal.
we have managed to get our sound bar and head phones to work by using an adapter from the HDMI arc port which gives an audio output.

our problem seems to be the old Sony kit isn't compatible and it needs an expensive newer player to get have the option to play blu ray discs. We tried an inexpensive newer Sony player but that didn't work either. And we took it back.
we have also tried an older LG player with no success.
What a faff this all is.
maybe it's the tele?

Have just tried the dvd player we have on our Sky Glass and we have no sound and a pink picture. Tried all ports and exactly the same happens. Has anyone had a 'fix' for this?

Update- we connected our bluray player via ethernet cable to the broadband box and updated its software. It now works perfectly.
