Does Facebook Portal work in Sky Glass?

Hi all. Still trying to decide if I will keep Glass after my 14 day cancellation period but I was just wondering if anyone had added The Facebook Portal camera etc. to the Glass TV? Just not sure now it interfaces. Thanks in anticipation

@jbrodbere It would need to interface using one of the HDMI ports.

There seems to be no reason why the Portal TV device shouldn't work: as @GD1 indicates, so far as a Glass television is concerned that's just an HDMI input. It's worth noting that Sky are planning their own dedicated motion capture camera for release next year, which appears to be based on Microsoft Kinect hardware with Teams functionality (probably the integrated Windows 11 version rather than Office365 though).

@TimmyBGood I think the reference to Microsoft Kinect in the review is just that - a reference to the way it works. Kinect technology is a bit old hat (first came out in 2010) and there are many more advances in technology that Sky will be using. They may well be tapping into Microsofts Teams technolgy as MS are investing heavily in that software.

Probably gonna get the Sky Kinect like camera.

Should be offered as a thank you to early adopters of Glass.

Portal works well with Glass, no issues at all, plug into one of the HDMI ports and you're good to go. The Portal remote also turns Glass on and off.

The artists rendering used in that article is from the official Comcast press pack for Glass, and clearly shows a Kinect-derived device. Whether that's actually what's delivered remains to be seen: it would obviously be in Microsoft's own interest to gain a wider distribution for what was always a rather niche product, if only to squeeze more value from their investment in its development.
