I am living between tow homes at the moment, can sky glass be used in both I.E can i take the TV with me and set it up in which ever home i am in

Contractually no doubt, but TECHNICALLY, it has no idea where it is does it?
Your IP could change every day from your ISP's pool.

I did wonder if the Pucks TECHNICALLY work fine if not on the same network as the main Glass - as that might be something handy to take to a mates house or to a holiday home or something (although of course, I wouldn't do such a thing 😇)....and of course, if your Glass dies and needs to go through a potentially elongated returns/replacement procedure, you'd still expect any Pucks to continue to work?

I suppose a test of this would be to move the Puck onto my guest WiFi which is totally segregated from the rest of my LAN.

As @GD1 indicates, it's presumably WAN address which counts, potentially checked against the MAC address of the pucks and that of the Glass television set in the same subscription.

Has anyone actually tried taking their puck round a mate's house to see if it does anything when connected to a different network? I've not read any posts which give a definitive yay or nay.

Is it actually the case that once a puck has been activated it does work away from the Glass network, but people are too afraid to say so because it breaks the t's and c's of their contract?

I don't think it can be tied/locked...because, the WAN IP could be refreshed at *any* time unless you have static IP.

So - imagine you've got everything set up at home - but potentially keep the Puck powered down and/or disconnected from network most of the time.

If the Glass TV gets switched off / fails...you could then turn the Puck on, and you'd expect it to work, even though your internet could potentially use a new WAN address that your Glass has never been seen on...

Another similar scenario, imagine you have some wierd power fault that takes the downstairs power out where your Glass and Router are connected. If you are with BT you might have the Halo 4G Mini Hub as a standby (or use a phone with a hotspot), which you could connect the Puck to and watch on a TV thats on a different power breaker upstairs - this again would get a totally different WAN address that your Glass has never been seen on?

More likely seeing Glass TV and associated pucks repeatedly appear on different public IP addresses over a period of time. It's all an artificial restriction to sell more televisions anyway, and probably won't be sustained indefinitely.

Indeed they would, but I think it highly unlikely that Sky would actually do anything about it... other than prevent the actual post from staying up here too long... which may be why I've not seen any.

So they're not saying it cant be done, just that you will be liable for being charged.

Interesting. Thanks for digging that out.

We may charge you, not we will. I'm still amazed nobody's tried it, or is willing to 'fess up that they've tried it. Not that I'm advocating anyone do it, I'm just curious to know how the OS on an activated puck reacts when connected to a different network.

I'd hope that Sky have locked them down so that they immediately just offer an error message and cease to function, but who knows?
