I don't know how to post the stats , they replaced the router a week ago which made no difference. It was all fine up to 2 weeks a go . Nothing has changed we have the same iPads etc connected as we've had for the last 3 years . It's really annoying as all I get is the line shows it's all good . Yes it maybe but coming out which is the important bit isn't! . Reading the comments and reviews on other threads and sites the reviews for sky routers WiFi is terrible so I am off when I can as the service to get it fixed is just as bd as the router .

@Raiz So what exactly is connected up to what and how on your network? I know you said iPads and phones, these are WiFi obviously, but Sky Q boxes at all? If so how many? Any laptops/PC's/Games consoles?

It is very strange for a device connected via ethernet to not receive a network connection, but something was using the LAN heavily when you posted that stats screenshot as there is a large amount of LAN traffic.

It looks like you have the ER115 router, it is true it isn't exactly well know for its Wi-Fi performance, the new SR203 is better, but it won't compete with more expensive 3rd party kit, indeed no ISP supplied router would. Whereabouts is the router within the house, at one extreme/end, or is it in the middle? And is it out in the open or tucked away in a cupboard or within a thick cabinet? It's flat orientation doesn't exactly help, an idea driven more by the sales department than the design department....

Also, the Sky app is reporting correctly, your sync speed is 72M/b according to the router stats, so the issue is obviously within the internal network and/or Wi-Fi related. They also show that the broadband connection itself has not dropped for the last 24 hours, and that was the last time you rebooted the router.

From router eaternet to splitter which hardwires tv cctv Xbox and when working (engineer coming Friday ) sky Q BOX . all was good for 3 years or so till 2 weeks ago . Nothing has changed or touched i internet just started playing up . The sky q box when hardwired connects but only stays for a few minutes then flicks to WiFi I reconnect and it flicks back hence Enginner coming Friday But I've been told that's it's tv not broadband engineer . They replaced router but still the same . It's not rubbish all the time it can be good for a few hours then go or it can go on off on off , This happened the other day my wife was working from home nothing was on just her laptop and phone and it kept dropping , all 3 lights stay on only a handful of times the lights have gone off . The router is on the side board and nothing is never it .

If not what is it you have? If it is a switch, what switch (model) is it?

Sky have two different teams that deal with the Broadband and Sky Q. The Sky Q guys usually have software licences from the company the Sky boxes use for the Wi-Fi mesh, which is called Airties, whereas the broadband teams don't really touch the TV part. This allows them to check how the mesh with the Q boxes is connecting up.

Yer that's it it's a switch , it's a netgear GS305, But like I said it was fine up till 2 weeks ago , and I also unplugged everything and it still played up ,I do notice an improvement in stability when the sky q box is off , I also forgot to mention that we have a sky booster in another part of the house to help with the dead spots . I've been reading about this mesh thing on sky q in forums etc it seems that's a real pain when it comes to the WiFi so makes me wonder why sky has buried its head in the sand for so long when it's obvious there is a problem there 😡

@Raiz thst speed test was run over wifi so simply reports the slowest part of the link which is likely to be the wifi.

You mention you have Q boxes and a booster if your device is using one of their wifi hotspots the speed can be very slow even though the signal is strong if the Q box has a poor connection back to the hub. If the Q box is connecting via the booster to the hub you will have lost a lot of speed as each jump cuts the speed by half. Its called daisy chaining, the best way round this is to invest in a set of Powerline adapters to carrybthe signal over your mains wiring to the most distant point.

Can you run a speed test on a device connected by a direct ethernet cable with everything else disconnected which should give a result of around 90% of the hub's sync speed? There are rare faults where a line may not carry the data the sync indicates but before anything can be done you have to exclude the vastly more probable internal network issues.

Hi , I've give up , I've am sitting here now with it going up and down all there is connected via WiFi is 2 iPads everything else is off and kids are out . It runs slow like the reading in above picture and sometimes the router lights all go out but that isn't a lot . I've run tests on hardwired iMac and that also slows , as I've said in other comments the tv which has been hardwired for ages just started buffering while on Netflix etc , this as never happened before 2 weeks ago . Also it shouldn't be WiFi is slow so you can't use it for all the devices, it's been ok for 4 years till 2 weeks ago nothing has changed nothing added nothing removed all exactly the same .

I've been having similar problems. The technical support are so reluctant to say that the wireless strength is the issue blaming me and the number of connections. Didn't help that the person I spoke to didn't understand the difference between megabits and megabytes. My issues have been since I switched over to Sky Q.

I've disconnected all my devices, reconnecting them one by one. Tried different wireless channels, hard resets, placed my router in the middle of my living room (that's really practical) and even switched off my mini q box. Still a poor connection if at all.

I figured that according to Sky I can only have 1 thing connected wirelessly to my router at any point and it has to be positioned in the most unnatural position to give reception im not using their router correctly. Oh, and I'm lucky that I'm getting better that the 3mbit guaranteed speed. I've had enough! I've wasted more time troubleshooting my connections than I've spent using it!

my contract is up next month, after being with sky for over 15 years I have to change. Never dealt with such a bunch of Teflon suits in my life.

@chris-rg the standard Sky hub used with Sky Q systems can support over 20 devices without issue. One of the issue with Q systems is where you have a relatively poor wifi signal coming to a Q tv box as any device in its immediate area will connect to it but the speed they get will be limited to the speed of the back haul to the hub - its like connecting a bath tap to a thin pipe.

Wifi signals are attenuated by solid walls and blocked by any metal like radiators. The Hubs are designed to radiate signals horizontally so signal strength on upper follors can be an issue. There is reason why experienced IT techs often still use ethernet cables on their own systems. 😀

Improving the signal to the Q boxes canmake a huge difference especially if the area you are working in is far from the hub. There are things you can do to improvecthings - I use powerline adapters to get the signal to distant Q mini so my wife gets good wifi in her study.

Switching providers might help but none can overcome the laws of physics unfortunately.
