As we're customers here, same as you, we can only hazard a guess that it's to do with what broadcasting rights Sky have access to. Viewer Relations are the Sky people to ask.

@Mark39 - there is no guessing required - it is purely down to rights.

@Bear+1012 - BCCI rights are held globally by The Walt Disney Company. The rights for the upcoming India tour are up in the air at the moment - Sky and BT Sport have been touted as possible destinations for sub-licensing but more recent reports suggest that Disney may try to monetise the coverage themselves by going direct-to-consumer. Whatever happens, it's looking to go down to the wire.

The Daily Telegraph says today:

It is still unclear who will broadcast the series in the UK. As Telegraph Sport revealed in December, the tour is set to be shown on Disney's Hotstar streaming service, although the final arrangements have yet to be confirmed.

Star Sports, part of the Disney empire, has exclusive rights to broadcast cricket within India and sells on its access to broadcasters in other territories, such as Sky or BT.

But the explosion in popularity of streaming services, such as its Disney+ channel, has led Disney to seriously consider retaining the rights, worth around £20 million, and screening matches in this country via one of its own digital platforms rather than selling them on to a traditional broadcaster.

Yep, all in all rather a sad business.

I must confess that I will be surprised if Disney do any deal with Sky (of course Sky = Comcast).

We will have to wait and see ...

We *could* end up with no TV option in the UK and be solely limited to radio (TalkSport hold the rights there (which presumeably means TalkSport 2))

One things for sure..If its Disney showing the IND vs ENG cricket in the UK, it's highly likely the commentary team will be 'Mickey Mouse' !

@RayW Fingers crossed they work something out. I'd prefer either Sky or C4 as I can only watch BT sport through its App on Firestick and hence no ability to record

I'm pretty sure this happened the last time England went to India in that the rights were signed pretty much at the last minute

No, that was the IPL series in 2019 that was provided at the very last minutes on the Star Gold channel for Sky and Virgin media customers.

Negotiations are ongoing but with a bidding war underway, the rights are set to go to one of that trio in the coming days.

i understands the most likely outcome will see BT Sport and Channel 4 win a joint bid that will see at least one of the four Tests shown by the terrestrial broadcaster. One other scenario might see Hotstar share the rights with Channel 4."

slightly off topic but not worth a new thread.

Does anyone have an idea why, or who I can contact to find out, Sky have yet to upload the full one hour highlights from T2 D4 versus Sri Lanka?

It's been nearly a week since the test ended and only the 15mins are available.

First Test, 5-9 February, Chennai

Second Test, 13-17 February, Chennai

Third Test, 24-28 February, Ahmedabad

Fourth Test, 4-8 March, Ahmedabad
