Hi,

I've searched some threads but struggled to find a solution for myself.

Set up - BT Hub

BT Whole home wifi discs

SKY Q 1TB with 3 Mini boxes

Before Sky Q was installed last week I had no issues with my whole home wifi discs. Since then, the discs are continually losing connection. Sky Boxes are working fine as i believe they're on a seperate network from what the engineer said.

BT Hub is connected via ethernet into main Sky Q box and the first Disc.

BT Hub is not losing connection at all. Constant blue light.

The discs are now losing connection. When the connection is up and live, one of the mini boxes (wifi) starts to stop and start a lot. The other boxes are either fine with the wifi from the main Sky Q box or wired directly to the Hub.

Two questions - Is Sky Q network causing the discs to drop out? Maybe because the Hub is giving priority to Sky and not the Whole home network! Or is there a conflict with IP addresses? I assumeed Sky box would not be DHCP controlling with this set up.

What is the better option? Have the two networks - Sky feed Sky and then all other devices feed off the discs or get Sky to connect to the Whole Home mesh network? Is this possible and is it reliable?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hi @bob1234

The mini boxes are not connected to the discs via ethernet or wireless. There are two different networks. The issue is that since the Sky Mesh network was set up, the BT mesh network is no longer working.

I can only imagine that the issue is with the BT Hub causing the conflict between the two networks.

I've managed to come to a solution. Thought i would put it in here in case others have a similar issue.

I plugged the BT Hub directly into an unmanaged switch which then distributes the internet to the Sky boxes and the BT Whole home wifi.

The Whole home wifi no longer drops out having removed the BT Hub from causing the conflict. Also, one of the mini box es is no longer pausing and restarting.

Hope this is of help to someone in future.

Unfortunately doesn't work if you're on Sky Broadband with a Sky Hub!

My set up has a switch as well but constantly drops signal & needs rebooting! If we go into lockdown again & I'm stuck at home for long periods I'm going to lose my #*#*!
