Moving sky Q box for the weekend

Hi, so I'm going away for the weekend (fri-mon) to a lodge, it does have WiFi but the tv is pretty rubbish, the last time I went I took my now tv stick with me but I can't find it this time, I was wondering if I could take my main sky Q box with me to use on an evening when we all want to wind down, I've tried to look for answers but it seems to be mixed advice on this and I don't want to risk my sky Q box being cut off in case it can't be done, thanks 😊

Nope that's not going to work, you'd need a satellite connection with the correct LNB for a start. You should be able to get SkyGo on your phone.

Hi @Rachel-M

it is officially against the T&Cs to use at another address but I don't know if SKY do actually track where a connection is being made from. You won't be able to watch Sat channels without a dish & SKY Q compatable wideband LNB but I guess could try it for recordings etc

The box itself requires a periodic signal via the Satellite to function & without it, it shuts down. So you might get away without connection for a few days but could find that day 1 was when it required the signal and ceases to function

Personally I wouldn't risk it and suggest you try to find your fire stick.
