We’re rolling out an update to the lastest Sky+HD boxes and Sky+HD 2TB box, as well as the Sky HD multiroom boxes.
So what's changing?
We are adding three new Standby Mode options:
1. Eco Standby mode - Uses less energy to run (0.5 watts) which lowers energy bills and is kinder to the environment. At certain times overnight, if the box isn’t in use and is left on standby, the box will automatically switched off. It will automatically wake itself up in the morning or if any recordings are set.
How do I know my box is in Eco Standby mode?
For 15 seconds before the box enters Eco mode the standby light will show amber and the light next to it will flash red. Once the box is in Eco Standby the standby light will turn red and the light next to it will stop flashing. Switchng the box back on will take approximately one minute.
What will happen to my recordings?
Your recordings will not be affected, if any recordings or downloads are scheduled to occur when Eco mode is running, Eco mode will be delayed until the recordings are completed.
2. ACTIVE standby - This is the same as the current Auto Standby mode and none of your active recordings will be affected.
3. NONE - This means your box will only go into standby if you press the standby button on either your Sky remote or Sky+HD box.
Some changes to the look and feel of the EPG
We're moving the position of the Sky logo, it will appear at the top left of the screen.
In Parental Controls, we're renaming the Remove Adult Channels section and renaming it to Remove Adult Content. Note content from the Movies > Erotic subsection can still be hidden in the planner.
Dolby Digital over HDMI
The 890 & 895 Sky+HD boxes will be updated to allow Dolby Digital output over HDMI.
The HD Multiroom Digibox (DRX595) will be updated to improve stability and add the enhanced Sky Guide, brighter colours and an 8 line grid.
* This update will ONLY apply to the Sky+HD (DRX890), Sky+HD 1TB & 2TB (DRX895) and the SkyHD multiroom box (DRX595). Customers who have a Samsung or Pace or 780 Sky+HD boxes will not receive a software update until later in the year.
