Moving home with additions question

We are looking to move house and we currently have the full television package, hd etc. In our current house we do not have sky talk or sky broadband because we are 'not in the sky network area' but that's a whole other nightmare. Our new house is going to be in the sky network so we would like to add Sky line rental and broadband to our package. Are we going have drama such as being charged for a telephone socket to be put in (there is a phone line into the house, we just can't find an outlet). Are we going to be able to get the same deal for having all three that is offered to new customers?

I've been reading about the nightmare people have had moving their phone and broadband but as we don't currently have them, will this be easier for us or should I just consider cancelling my account and my partner opening a new sky account for the new house?

Any tips/info would be appreciated. :smileysurprised:)

Re: Moving home with additions question

Hi there,

It is currently free for customers to have a new line connected if you are looking to add Sky Line rental to your package when you move home (Sky pay all the charges BY Openreach levy for this).

At the moment it is longer to move exisiting telephony products as they have to cancel down before ordering at the new property - for you this woulnt be the case so it would be much quicker to get set up.

So, everything is free including the Sky engineer installing any dish/ cabling you need (just take your box and remote) and if you tell them you are moving now you can get 2 months free upgrade to Sports and Movies to enjoy in your new home, if you don't already have them!

Re: Moving home with additions question

Hi Mahesh,

Not quite sure I fully understand but think what you would need to do is cancel your sister's Sky BB account and do a homemove of all your products to your sister's address so that there is just one account holder there. As long as your sister has had Sky BB for longer than 1 year then I think this shoud be fine?

Another option woud be for your sister to sign up for Sky TV etc. and for you to cancel your account, again assuming you have been a customer for longer than a year?

Best to talk to the Homemove Team on 08442 410 625 to talk details though,

Re: Moving home with additions question

ado

can u please contact me. My situation is very similar to this post and i really need some help asap. I have now got a moving date and despite talking to someone last week who said they would add talk for me at no charge I am now being told it will cost me to connect a phone line, despite bt telling me there is a line at the house and they will do it Free. I would rather use sky for the line rental with everything else we get but if i dont hear from someone sensible at sky soon I am goin to have to arrange the new phone with bt, so i can organise the broadband for the new home- your representative said i cant cancel current one and book new one unless i give him the new phone number. very annoying.
