Hi! We currently have TV with Sky, but phone line and broadband with Virgin. We are thinking of moving all to one provider. If we move to Sky , we want to keep our existing phone number.
Has anyone any experience of success or failure with this please? I contacted the on-line chat help - the advisor said it is possible, but he'd needed to check the answer, which left me feeling doubtful.
Thank you.

I don't know if this helps. It's from Sky's help page.
To transfer an existing phone number to a new Sky phone line you'll need to let us know the following when placing your order:
The phone number
The name of your existing phone provider
It will normally take us roughly three weeks after your TV has been installed to complete your Sky Talk order as we need to work with your existing provider to transfer ownership of the phone number to Sky.
If you are switching from a cable provider to Sky, please do not cancel your cable phone service until we have confirmed the installation or activation date for your new Sky phone line in writing. Cancelling your cable phone service before we have secured the transfer of your existing number may mean your current number can't be transferred to Sky.

Thanks for the above, but I'm wanting to know that I can DEFINITELY have the same number if I move from Virgin. I've just phoned TalkTalk, and they said they cannot use the same number, due to Virgin being cable. They said Virgin do not release the phone numbers to any companies. Which contradicts what Sky are saying. I need to know for sure that Sky can take on my Virgin number. Thanks.

Yes it is possible to keep your existing phone number when switching to sky talk, did so myself a few weeks ago. Hope this helps.

Starry+eyed - thanks very much for that. Did it take long to transfer? i.e. were you without a phone line at all?

Hi esspee,
Sorry to but in here. We do try to keep the existing numbers for all our existing customers. Sometimes this is not possible but we try our hardest to make the transition as smooth as possible.
With regards for how long it takes to transfer, this really depends on the line you have at the moment as it will not be the same for every customer. I would contact us to find out all the details for your specific address.
Thanks
