Hi i am moving house in a few days and have been informed as of yesterday that not only is there a charge but i also have to restart a new 12 month contract, although i am only 5 months into this contract. I don't understand or want to start a new contract and want to know why i'm being forced to do so. Plus i will be without Sky tv, broadband and phone for a few weeks, do i have to pay for services that i'm not being provided with during these weeks.

Hi armyman,
If you are moving your existing services then there is no requirement to have a new minimum contract term.
If you are adding new services onto your account as part of the home move then there may be a new minimum term contract for that service, but this will be explained to you at point of sale.
There is no longer a charge for taking your existing Sky services to a new address. We used to charge £60/€77 however we took the big step of dropping these charges following customer feedback as we understand that moving home is stressful and expensive. We want to make moving home with Sky stress free and simple, with a free professional Sky TV installation performed by an expert who will ensure that the system is in full working order at the customer’s new address. All costs associated with getting a new phone line installed and broadband activation will continue to apply.
The dedicated Home Move Line is open 7 days between 0830 and 2300:

FYI, just tried calling the 'dedicated' home move line given (2130 on Sunday) and it is just the general Sky line. Having navigated through several menus though to the home moving department I was also left with a message to tell me they were closed.
Turns out it isn't 0830 to 2300 7 days a week, as they close at 1830 on weekends.
In the mean time though, can anyone advise if there are any penalties to moving home within broadband contract if you intend to take the service with you?
I am about to sign up for another 12 months to get a discount, but don't want to do so if there are penalties as we are likely to be moving in the next year.
Thanks
Rob

Hi RobDay78,
There is no penalty charge if you move home and take your Sky Broadband service with you.

Dont move with sky, if possible cancel and move with another provider, just take sky tv with you.
I moved houses on March 4th, and till date dont have broadband or telephone. after too many calls and arguments and threatening to leave I got tv services a few days ago. I have run out of patience now and finally cancelled my telephone and broadband, as they said it will April 10th atleast until I get my services back.
PM me for any further information

Yeah these jokers have just had me sign up for another 12 months after i moved. At no point was I told that this would be the case.
it has taken 4 weeks to get a line installed by BT and now its going to take another 10 days for activation.
noone i talked to could tell me why it takes so long or even what the process is. "Nobody here knows why, sir"
Every person I spoke to was equally useless and attitudal.
also there is no mention of this in the 'moving home' section of the website http://www.sky.com/helpcentre/moving-home/moving-h

I called the dedicated number in UK, guess what? They tell me I have to make a fresh 12 month contract, pay £39 and wait for 3 weeks for the services to be transfered from my old house to the new one. I am under contract with SKY and yet I have to pay still? The new flat already have a BT-compatible landline so I dunno why there's a need to enter into a new contract as if you are a first time customer.

This is a lie according to me. As I just called up for moving my services keeping the entire package for SKY TV, broadband and sky talk as it is. And the agent said the broadband has to be a new 12 months contract. And he said that this is some wrong information on the website that I am reading. Probably the team should be co-ordinating and communicating before posting any such stuff online.
