ok i setup my new box lastnight to activate my card to new box i descovered thank the channels were alrady tuned in everthing was sealed in box but i got 2 books with it one was turms and condition the other explained how to activate channel and card but there was no user manual and no modem cable used one from my old box not reaaly fussed just wanted to no if it was second hand or had just been missed out

If it arrived in a sealed box, it is new.  Manuals are no longer supplied as a matter of course.  The Sky+HD manual is available online.

Not sure about the phone cable, but new Sky/Amstrads being sold by Satbuyer do not have the RJ11 cable as part of the box contents.

i was given a second hand HD box by my sister that was originally bought from sky, i emailed sky before hand to ensure i could get them to install the cables which they said yes they would i was clear on where i was getting the box from, when i phoned to book an appointment as advised by the email from sky only to be told i wouldnot be getting it installed by them what am i supposed to do now???

If you havnt had sky before you could get a box direct from them and give the box to someone else or look in the yellow pages for someone who will install independently ring up and ask for a qoute for a sky plus if you have a sky plus box if not standard install then ring up sky them you have everything installed and you whish to become a sky subcriber and you need a viewing card if you have already been given a card by the person that give you the box use that untill you get your new card take old card out dietroy it and insert new card given to you by sky box needs to be connect via telephone line for the purpose of activation and must remain connected for 12 months as stated in terms of contract

update : after having the box for aproxmatly 1month it failed on me was stuck in standy and was replaced for free during 12 month garantee

Are you still having problems with the box being stuck on standby? Can you advise what you have tried with the system and we will assist further with this?
