Moving Home

Hi I am a little confused about the moving home process, do you pay extra to do this or is it free? I recently moved to a new place but the dish is a a standard sky one but I have sky+ hd so it isn't working well!

It used to be 60 quid but it's free now.

Moving your Sky TV

  1. A qualified Sky engineer can install your Sky TV for free, including:

    • Your Sky TV system installed by an expert.
    • The engineer will ensure that the system is in good working order and if required, we will replace any cabling/parts.
    • All work completed is covered by a 90-day warranty.
    • If you’re thinking of upgrading your box, this is an ideal time to do so.

You can install your Sky box yourself if you have a dish already installed in your new property and the previous owners had the same cable type as you (Standard Sky boxes have a single-feed cable to the dish while Sky+ and Sky+ HD boxes have dual-feed cables). If you have different cable types, you will need a Sky engineer to install your Sky system. If you have Multiroom, you'll have to ensure that it's already set up in the rooms you wish to watch Sky in.
  2. We don't recommend booking your installation for the same day as your move, in case there is a delay getting into the property.
  3. The Sky engineer will require a phone line to be active at your new address, so make sure that you have arranged for your phone services to be activated there before your Sky TV engineer comes to install Sky TV in your new home.

If you are not going to be available on the day and time you've booked your engineer visit, please try to let us know. We will arrange another appointment as soon as we have an engineer available.

Re: Moving Home

15/12/10 - I too have tried for ages to contact customer services with my new address and discuss my package but like you, I cannot get through.  Just keep getting a message saying all operators are busy and then SKY hang up. What rubbish service - at least we should be put in a queue so that we can eventually talk to someone!  SKY - have you all gone out for your CHRISTMAS PARTY?

Re: Moving Home

Hi Nicola85, there is no charge for installing your Sky TV at the new address. There may be charges for Sky Broadband or Sky Talk. You can find more information here.

Re: Moving Home

I've used the online tool to inform Sky that I am moving  house and was told in the email that I would be contacted within 48 hours to confirm the order. That was 4 days ago !!!!! Surely the idea of the online system is to speed things up.Please phone me Sky as I move tomorrow.

Re: Moving Home

You will have to phone them to chase this up as they will not know who you are by posting on here and anyway you can not post your personal details on here.

Re: Moving Home

SKY called me after I submitted an online moving form, I was told the service was free but when the transferred me to their Agents here (I'm in Scotland) I was told there would be a charge of around £150! What part of FREE don't they understand? So I think I'll be cancelling the whole thing, cheaper to get a new installation than to move house! MADNESS! I'm sure Virgin would be glad of my business!

Re: Moving Home

Hi silveraura,

Who are the agents you have been referred to and were you given a reason why you were transferred to them?
