Hi,
I went on holiday for a week leaving my sky+ box in standby to record items in my planner. It recorded all of the programmes in the planner but in every one there are multiple instances of losing sound (for up to a minute at a time)while the picture continues to play, sometimes the sound and picture aren't in synch and occasionally the picture also freezes.
This only happens when playing back recordings, sound and picture on live play are fine. There were no issues with playback before I went on holiday and none of the settings on the TV or box have been changed.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to fix this?
Cheers in advance,
CB22

If these are 'recorded' issues, you may not be able to do anything to correct them. Try the following: even if they don't help with your recordings, they may prevent future recordings from having the same problems.
1. If you haven't tried rebooting the box by switching off at the mains, try that first.
2. If that doesn't help, try a planner rebuild (search Sky Help).

Try as above. If your Sky+ box is in regular use, the hard drive may be feeling its age. Make, model of box, and how old ?
If Mark's suggestion doesn't improve things, try a Full System Reset. ( but you will lose your recordings ).

Hi Mark
I had tried a reboot which hadn't worked, so tried your suggestion of a planner rebuild. As you suggested it hasn't repaired stuff that was already recorded but, having tested it on two new recordings, it seems to have fixed the problem.
Thanks!

Hi Kenneth
Marks suggestion of a planner rebuild has worked, at least for the moment.
My box is an Amstrad DRX780UK-C and only about 2 years old but it is used regularly. How long would you normally expect one to last? I would expect more than 2years?
Thanks!

3-5 years' heavy use would be satisfactory. Exceptionally a bit +/-. Keep an eye on it, and do monthly Planner Rebuilds.

Will do - thanks for the help!
