Sky customer contacting internet on Mobile also using e-mail

I have a Sky+ account. I have recently aquired a better phone and have successfully amended settings so I can connect to my SKY account to see e-mail - that works OK. I can also connect to the internet - that works too.

I have an Orange account that is Pay and Go with a chunk of credit.

But..... now I realise my credit has diminished quite a bit, suggesting that I am paying Orange prices for something and not not using the SKY account for something.

Now either I am doing something wrong or I was given bad advice. I always check that the SKY account is enabled.

Although my phone credit is zero I seem to me able to check for e-mail OK. I seem to be able to connect to the internet OK. GPS works and so on. But when I dial I find that I have no credit. I must assume that via ORANGE I am using the phone and text part of the system and that incurs charges of course. What bugs me being the only user of the phone, is that that my credit is'0' all of a sudden. My only possible expensive use has been Bluetoothing a photo to another phone, mayke a 2MB file don't know how much that costs! And also about 4-5 very voice short calls and maybe 15 texts.

I would appreciate comment please and any help and advice. I hope I have explainined everything clearly.

I take it your phone is using wireless to get onto the internet? If not you will always be using your phone providers data tariff to download etc even email will cost you money. Which phone is it?

Used to work for Sky and BT ADSL tech support but please don't hate me for it :smileywink:

Connecting via SKY.... never touch anything to do with orange. Always check, disconnect and re-check at intervals.

settings/connectivity/wi fi/wifi on checked/sky code starred. I am wondering if wifey left it switched on! Just occurred to me. With a phone she is like a pig handling a musket. Re-running my life I came up on the possibility. Perhaps I won't forgive for the BT for my past with them But SKY is fine

Re: Sky customer contacting internet on Mobile also using e-mail

Indulge me please; I have another question.

First the patience and interest and expertise of the responder is appreciated. INotice on this phone I two web feeds that involve news via the BBC ticker. The home one works perfectly and I assume via my SKY account. The second one involving World news gives me a warning that hints at me being on another server and charges may follow. Makes no sense to me from what you have already said to me. As far as I can see the ORANGE network is only involved in my text/phone facilities.:mansurprised:
