Hi all, new on here but not new to forums ![]()
So, moving house in around 4 weeks.
Currently a long standing and happy standard Sky TV subscriber with Internet & phone from B.T.
At the new house I would like all my TV, Broadband & TV to come from Sky and to have a Sky+ box (no need for HD at this time)
So, I ring Sky (and eventually get through !)
They say to upgrade my existing Basic Sky TV package to become Basic Sky TV + Basic Broad Band + Sky Talk will cost me £49.90 a month ![]()
Now if I cancel my current subscription and "pretend" I am leaving Sky, then set up a brand new account as a "new customer" in my wifes name, we can get all I want, including a FREE Sky+ box WITH a £30 M&S voucher thrown in for £19.95 a month !!
Is this as daft as I think it is ?
Am I missing something ?

New customer offers are for new customers to generate new income, companies do this as it generates churn and keeps their accountants happy even though it looks silly. Cancel and arrange a new installation at the new property, at least you save money out of it.

Thanks for the reply Paul
I do think it is daft, I mean they are losing money here. I pay £24 now for just the basic Sky TV and newcomers get that, + Basic Broadband + Sky Talk for £19.95 ! If they had told me I could upgrade for say £29.95 I would probably go for it just to keep things simple. So they lose £10 a month from me and they go down in my estimation. which is bad PR (folks like me discuss this kind of thing in the pub for instance - if they had come up with something sensible, I would be singing there praises in the pub etc !!)
p.s. I don't hate Sky or BT tech help - well actually I do, esp BT, but I won't hate you Paul ![]()
