The content on Anytime plus is poor to say the least! Sky being the market leader should not be chasing Virgin on the content front. Aslo the price you pay for sky services is getting quite expensive.
I have been a sky customer for years and for the first time cinsidering going else where.

To be perfectly fair, I have enquired about Virgin services-and on a like for like basis, they are considerably more expensive than SKY with far less HD content.
Apart from the way Sky are approaching the Full Rollout of Anytime plus, my personal opinion is value for money is far better than other providers at this time. I have had Virgin Media services before and returned to Sky after a very short while!![]()

Hi Simo001,
The content of Anytime+ changes from time to time due the copyright agreements that are negotiated with the copyright holder. We believe the Anytime+ feature adds a great deal of value to your package, at no extra subscription cost.
Within a competitive market we will always look to keep our prices as low as possible and also use this to provide a quality service. We are always looking to invest on improving our products and services as there is always room for improvement.
We are more than happy to discuss your Sky account with you. You can do this by contacting a contact centre advisor through the contact us section of the help centre.

I have been looking into alternative providers too, I can't get cable tv where I live but I am tempted to go for BT vision they are offering a package of anytime calls, upto 20meg unlimited broadband and gold level tv for £40. I want to be able to use anytime/ on demand services but I have the Amstrad 780 box, which seems to be forever in the process of waiting for the upgrade.

I did briefly look at BT Vision, but again in my opinion an inferior service compared to Sky, it,s basically Freeview plus with the option of On demand content, HD movies at an extra cost.
We donot have Anytime Plus on the 780 box yet, but we do still have Anytime (no cost) we also have reasonable storage on the Hard Drive which I utilise as a kind of On Demand TV (record and watch when i'm ready)
I still believe other providers have a long way to go before they reach SKY's level![]()

95% of my tv viewing is stuff I have recorded and some of the normal anytime that sky download to the box. I have tried seesaw which was ok but would like a service with hd content, is bt vision the best service after sky and virgin? I had thought about getting an upgrade to the 1tb box but £249 is too high when you can buy a 1tb drive for much less than £100. I did love my sky tv but the company is not treating some of its longer term customers very well.

Maybe Sky should consider a loyalty discount, it seems all their offers seem to be geared to new customers, you do feel a little left out at times!

I am a recently retired independent Communications Engineer, by which I mean professional IT expertise, not "satellite TV fitter" or "telephone technician" and I have worked for several giant modern comms service providers over the years, of which all have their limitations in some way or another.
I have no axe to grind for any of them as they all are making far too much money out of the consumer but I have to say when it comes to TV programming, only one seems to have the balance just about right. They are expensive but their delivery of service is quality. The rest are just "also rans" in comparison. I will emphasise that I am not on commission for this but all you have to do is look at where all the other service providers get their Sport channels from !!! So be fair, lets all do what we are best at, leaving others to do the same.
The only real competitor that could ever worry any of them currently has its hands tied by virtue of a Television Licence et al, which if abolished and old blighty were to be funded by subscription and advertising instead would free its reigns to do whatever it pleased; their resources, developmental assets and staff expertise are vast and are totally capable of slaughtering any competition in record time. Sadly I fear, we shall never find out.
So I shall leave you all to draw your own conclusions from a mish mash of choice and to ponder upon the wonderful world of a modern democracy!!
