Earworms

You know when there's a song stuck in your head? Even one you totally hate? And you keep singing it and humming it, unable to stop??!

What's your way to get rid of it? Mine is playing it until I can't listen to it anymore.

This is my stuck-in song today. You and I and nobody else.... STOOOP IT!!

Never underestimate Little Mix.... Smiley LOL

Re: The song stuck in your head

@Federica-C These are known as earworms, here's a tip:

Listen to a musical "cure." Always choose a song that you enjoy, just in case it replaces the one in your head! Ideally, you'll find a "cure tune" that drives out the old song but doesn't get stuck in your head itself. Most "cure tunes" are specific to one person, but there are a few that turned out to be more popular in one survey.
God Save the Queen
Karma Chameleon by Culture Club
Happy Birthday To You
The A-Team theme song
Kashmir by Led Zeppelin
Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel.

  Here are some more tips:

  Chew gum.
Let your mind wander.
Solve word puzzles.
Distract yourself with a calm verbal activity.
Do math problems.

Re: The song stuck in your head

Yeah Earworms are horrible. Thanks for the tips Merv.

Whenever I put the oven on I always get Don't Stop Me Now from Queen stuck in my head. Particularly the "200 degrees - That's why they call me Mr Fahrenheit" bit.

Re: The song stuck in your head

  @Federica-C & @Sam-R

I knew my gf knew something about this & she says the song to sing is Raindrops Keep Falling On Your Head, it'll get rid of the earworm & you won't have RKFOYH in your head either.

Re: The song stuck in your head

The riff in "Crackerman" by the stone temple pilots keeps infecting my brain.

Worse things could happen i suppose.
