Meet the community Oracles: Dazzasky

Welcome to the latest instalment in our series of blogs putting the spotlight on each of our Oracles.

 

You may or may not know but they are not Sky employees they are customers just like you and dedicate an incredible amount of their own time helping other customers. 

 

What makes them tick and how did they get so involved in the Sky Community in the first place? I got the chance to ask these questions and others. Read on for the low down.

 

Meet @Dazzasky - he finds the community a bit addictive really enjoyed helping out with our slight falling out with Discovery in 2017.

 

“It kinda takes over a little bit as I find it quite addictive so I have to remind myself that I have another life as well!"

When did you join the Sky Community?

 

“I joined around four years ago.”

 

How long have you been an Oracle?

 

“For around 14 months.”

 

Apart from being an Oracle, have you had any other roles within the community?

 

“I’m a product trialist. It’s great getting to trial products before they are released to the general public. You get to see all the new cool features first hand.”

 

What about you “in real life” What are your hobbies, interests, career history?

 

“I love walking along coastal paths and also in the countryside. I like going to the cinema and theatre. I am currently a protection officer for a University.”

 

How did you originally find us?

 

“I had an issue with my Sky box in the past and then once I started to notice that you could find out about upcoming features, I got hooked.”

 

How do you think the community helps Sky customers?

 

There are a lot of knowledgeable people on the forum who can help with many issues that some members may struggle with. It can save the customer a lot of time and hassle to start here first.

 

How would you describe the community to a new user?

 

“Informative and interesting. You can also get to meet other members that have similar interests to yourself.”

 

What would be your top tip or tips for a new user on the forum?

 

“Start with the search feature first.”

 

Do you have any tips for a member who would like to become an Oracle?

 

“I think you need to be proactive, friendly and willing to help others.”

 

What are your favourite areas and has this changed over time?

 

“I would say Sky Q as I have Sky Q myself but basically I try to help on all boards where I can. I have always favoured the Sky Q board as that is where my strength is. I also like The Boardroom as we can find out some interesting facts.”

 

How do you balance your real life with your second life as an oracle?

 

“It kinda takes over a little bit as I find it quite addictive so I have to remind myself that I have another life as well! I tend to come on to the forum whenever I get a chance though. I am quite fortunate in my job as it gives me the opportunity to log on regularly.

 

What are your most memorable moments?

 

“It has to be when we thought the Discovery channels were going to come off the Sky platform. The forum nearly went into meltdown! And of course, there was the launch of Sky Q.”
