If any of you people are on the "Connect" package there is nothing you can do because there is traffic shaping on your service from BT and your bandwith will be reduced at peak times.
"Unlimited" users need to keep phoning SKY because there is no traffic shaping on this service as it is run by Sky LLU
All traceroute posts on here piont to a sky server so it is definatly not your equipment.
Also if you have Sky talk then the sky 0844 numbers are free.
A sky rep told me to be persistant and keep phoning them if I still have issues otherwise if you dont then they will presume the fault has gone, they have put me on a different profile today but I cannot monitor it untill Friday due to work.
PS. Its nothing to do with "Anytime+"

Well.... another night with the same issue. High ping and a slow service. For an extremely demanding product i like seeing prompt solutions

Traffic shaping or not - it bares all the characteristics of traffic shaping - personally speedtests show a good amount of throughput, however pings are really high and watching a video on Youtube is totally impossible!
As for continuosly contacting Sky - I really don't have the patience to - besides they have already confirmed to me that they are aware of the issue and know what is causing it, a fix/repair/upgrade will be forthcoming, though, and in their own words, it could take weeks!
Each person that is experiencing it on the UNLIMITED product needs to register it as a fault with Sky late in the evening - after 10pm when you are far more likely to be routed straight to the UK call centre and not have to jump through all the usual hoops before getting to the heart of the problem and getting it logged as a fault. State the facts: 1) You are on Unlimited, 2) What your line is normally capable of during the day - pings and download speed, 3) The stats that you get during the evening, 4) Confirm that you have not done anything different to your set-up etc etc
Robert has stated earlier in this thread that he has been in contact with the parties that need to be informed, and that they will report back when they have more news - Other than that - keep reporting it and posting stats - teh more info and faults they have recorded, (hopefully) the quicker we'll all get a result.

I'm off. Got mac code on the way. Im not putting up with this standard of service. Will be moving to BT when mac code arrives.

Signature96 - Are you currently on Connect or Unlimited, it's just that you've not yet mentioned which 'service' it is that you are connected to?
Taking at look at the St Asaph exchange on Samknows shows that there is Sky LLU so you may be on Unlimited. There is only one other LLU operator in your exchange and that's Talktalk - that i personally wouldn't go anywhere near! St Asaph doesn't yet have BT WBC enabled so a move to them could see you getting exactly the same issues as you have now - which, if you are on Unlimited, hopefully is only a temporary problem.
Am just speaking from experience - it really can be a case of better the devil you know.... I was stuck with an ISP that begins with the letter 'V' for 5 months with a download speed of less than 100k on an up to 8 meg service!! And it was all to do with too many connections on BT's equipment at the exchange!
If you do decide to go though, good luck, and be careful out there!

No ive had HD for over a year, it will have nothing to do with whatever sky tv package your have , thats got nothing to do whatsoever with your broadband connection.
looking forward to another night on the phone to sky broadband help , to be told they dont know what a ping is and i can hardly contain my excitment about having to start from the begining after they tell me they have no history of my problem on their system.....again.....
on ‎12-01-2011 08:34 AM
I have requested this be canceled also...
Im going back to bethere. ?Yes it will be £17 per months rather than £5 now but I can afford to pay the differnce and using the internet is more important to me than saving just over £10 per month....

@spawnstar: Anytime+ has a lot to do with your broadband connection, given that it's an on-demand service that lets you download shows and watch them on the fly! However, i've already ruled it out, as my sister's connection is also affected and she does not have Anytime+!
on ‎12-01-2011 04:40 PM
I wonder if this anytime+ has effected the servers at sky end tho.....
As all that extra data will really be slowing it down alot!

I dont have anytime+ so that rules that out.
Still waiting for a sky reply on this speed/ping issue issue ???
All reps i speak to are still unaware of this issue.

Still the same ongoing problems with throughput and latency at peak times, finaly spoke to level 2 cst who didnt know what was going on, but have now referred my problem to some other department "down south" so it can be investigated, service rep I spoke too didnt seem aware of any ongoing issues. This is starting to wear a little thin now.

Hi all, first post here, but I am having the same ridiculous problems, over the last 4 weeks my ping has gone through the roof lately for online gaming, here are my tracerout results to the particular server I play on where in normal hours my ping is 26ms from 7 pm it rockets up to over 150ms

Would really like an update, but don't fancy wrangling with Customer Services!
on ‎12-01-2011 10:38 PM
Ok peeps - just called Sky again and spoke to CST:
They are still working on the problem and are aware of many customers registering a problem with high pings and low throughput in the evening. Unfortunately there is still no ETA for a fix - though it is understood that this is becoming a big problem for Sky - it is affecting SVBN and Non-SVBN customers alike - it is no longer just affecting the North West and North Wales - reports of affected customers are increasing for other areas too.
To speed up a resolution, everyone who is affected needs to contact Sky and register a fault on their connection:
You must state that you are an Unlimited customer, you have not changed your set-up, it is only affected in the evening and results in high pings and low throughput.
Other than that - unfortuunately - just sit and wait!
