I have a similar issue with slow connections. When I had the same BT line with a broadband service from O2 my connection speed was roughly 3Mbps now with sky its roughley 1.5Mbps.
My connection stats are (from the master socket):
System Up Time: 323:01:48
| MER | 274417 | 7938020 | 0 | 38827496 | 2147483647 | 56:57:17 |

| Up | 2456705 | 1649347 | 0 | 2147483647 | 207761274 | 323:01:29 |
| 1535 kbps | 604 kbps |
| 64.0 dB | 38.4 dB |
| 9.0 dB | 12.6 dB |
What do I need to get sky to alter my noise margin.

I usually get 107KB/ sec or below but aren't I entilted to get above that? like 200KB?
How can I improve my speed?

Hi.
I moved house recently and where i used to get a 1MB/s download rate it has slowed by 40% to 600kb/s.
Am wondering why this is the case? I have the same set up as before.

Am wondering if you could shed some light on this.
Thanks.

After reading more of the forums I've completed the Sky Troubleshooting steps, (checking microfilters, etc), and plugged my router into the BT Test socket but nothing has improved really:

I have just made a copy of my broadband statistis and as you can see it's very very slow. I have had my installation checked twice and all materiels, cables, PC and software are very recent - Windows 7 64bits - up to date and are working perfectly fine. The ADSL filter has been changed for a new one. So now my question : it's still not working fine with several interruption at peak time. I do not download music of files or pic. I am just browsing the internet and checking my email. What not just saying that I can only be provided with cr-- because I am living nearby a town but not in a town.
thanks for the info

Hi cocochinois, what estimated access line speed (EALS) did sales or our web site advise your line should support?
If you are having problems with your speed please try the troubleshooting here. If this does not help I would advise trying your router in your test socket if you have one, or in the master socket on it's own if you don't, with a different filter and posting the router statistics you see there along with the statistics from your current configuration.
If you have a horizontal split across your master socket as shown in the picture just above the microfilter then you should have a test socket. Remove anything you have plugged in to the socket then undo the two screws and gently remove the bottom half of the faceplate (it may have wires attached to the back). You should then see the test socket in the bottom right corner. If the faceplate is one piece of plastic then you don't have a test socket so don't attempt this.
To get the full router statistics go to http://192.168.0.1 then log in with admin and sky and click on show statistics.

Hi flumpy,
Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting your stats, you've mentioned that they have been taken from your master socket, does your master socket look like the socket below, if so can you please unscrew the faceplate and connect only the microfilter and broadband and re post your stats, as this will allow us to see if the speed will improve

Hi,thanks for the reply, yes I do have the same master socket as shown,I have plugged the micro filter into the test socket and the above are the stats.I have noticed that Sky have set my speed to 1mb limit, where as before i had up to 3mb,this is a bit of a joke.It takes ages to download anything as for playing online games they lag all over the place, any advice please, thanks

Hi flumpy,
There isn't much of a difference between your master and test socket stats. As your noise margin is 14db then we should be able to improve your speed in order to have this done you would need to contact us

Hi,contacted a Sky service agent and he done tests on the line and has now put it back up to 3mb,thanks for all your help.

I was getting speeds of .5mb, finally called Sky to have the line reconfigured (my noise margin was 12.1). Only took a minute to for Sky to change and now getting speeds of over 4mb.
Very happy with Sky's service - thanks!

Hi webba91 ,what line speed were you given by sales or our Web site (estimated access line speed)? If you are having problems with your speed please try the troubleshooting here. If this does not help I would advise trying your router in your test socket if you have one, or in the master socket on it's own if you don't, with a different filter and posting the router statistics you see there along with the statistics from your current configuration.
