Re: ping fluctuation

Thanks, no security issues as your ip won't be listed at any point in a trace only the internal LAN router ip that is useless :smileyhappy:

There are some issues at the moment with the 2nd hop of the sky network in some areas (few posts down this forum experience similar) but only at peak times. Best thing to do is try and bring it to their attention by reporting it to customer service, though will probably have to be escalated to another tier for them
to understand what you are talking about - this varies of course.

Re: ping fluctuation

I don't know. If I do a speedtest my exchange is shown as 200+ miles away to the south.

@Malcol.M I am on the shrewsbury exchange and have this same issue with high pings during peak times, a number of people in Shrospshire on this forum and elsewhere have reported the same issue.

@Rachel.B go to Samknows and put your phone or postal code in and it will tell you.

Re: ping fluctuation

Would it not be best to test to the same server on a designated service such as pingtest.net and also see if you get slow downs correlating to these results in the evening with speedtest.net (run one after the other). Might be better than the BBC which is a high volume site which will likely get more traffic in the evenings...

Basically you would need to prove to technical support that there is a fault by providing as much info as possible.

Also worth bearing in mind that different games work in different ways so test multiple games out. Some games will work on servers hosted by the publisher (better as long as they are UK based). Other games with connect to other users and use them as a server which is then very much Dependant on that players connection (more importantly the upstream). In some games you can also be the server which is ideal (maybe not so for the other players if you have the bad upload ;-)
