Hi. We have a sky + subscription under 1 name.
Sky+ account is under my father's name, however i want to change the payment options, so that I am the one paying for Sky + from my own bank account and not him. Is this possible or allowed?
Thanks.

I'm afraid I found your reply of no use, Malcolm. It just sent me on a tour of the Sky website, which I'd already taken. The relevant page does not allow setting up a new Direct Debit when the name of the Payee is different from the Account holder name (in this case, my son will be paying my bill).

Hi Gaia222, you would need to call in to customer service on 08442 414141 or if you have a password on the account your son can call. The person intending to pay the bill would need to be present to agree to it.

Beware of this... I setup my parents sky account so that I pay for it and I have all of the security details, pasword etc. Sky Customer services were very happy for me to add to my parents subscription (that I pay for) but will not take instruction from me to downgrade the subscription. Apparently I need to get my elderly mother to telephone them.
I find this abismal, I pay the bill, I have the password, why will they not deal with me... Is it to make it as difficult as possible for people to cancel????

Hi Iain+Macleod, they should allow downgrades by the password holder. The main exceptions to password holders accessing the account are cancellation and changing personal information.

I spent about 45 mins on the phone speaking to the agents manager and they insisted that my mother would need to call them...

Were you only downgrading and not cancelling? If so leave it with me I'll check if processes have had a sudden change and report back.

Hi, sorry for the delayed response. I've had it confirmed that password holders can downgrade the account by the department who take these calls.

I am a password holder and I have been told I need to cancel the account to open a new one yet your early post said password holders can't cancel an account ( I need to do this for a seperation, when all I want is an account name change )

My existing contract is ending soon, and we wanted to take a fresh contract or atleast the account to be registered by my partner's name.
In the beginning when I was taking this contract, I was told that you have to get this contract to end before taking a fresh contract, now am being told you can't take fresh contract with a different name. Further, if I close the existing contract I can't even take a fresh contract with my name before 12 months.
Am not sure who's right here but this is certainly mis-communication at Sky end just to lure customers and then not allowing them the feasibility. This, moreover when my partner is actually paying the direct debit.
Can anyone from sky answer this please.
Thanks

Hi Sachin27,
If you wish the account to be in someone else's name, then the existing account will have to be cancelled and a new account set up by the other person. They will not be eligible for any new customer offers as they are still part of the same household.
If you wish to set up a fresh contract in the other person's name or your own name as a new customer so you are eligible for any new customer offers, you will have have to wait 12 months after your original account has been cancelled before we can set this up for you.
Hope this helps.

Hi gary+97, if you contact us we should be able to arrange a contract and viewing cards in your own name. The previous account holder is responsible for closing down their account.
