can I control sky box from another room

hi, my father wants to control sky hd box from another room he is 83 years old, and is getting more limited in his ability to get around. I remember a long time ago their used to be a infrared sensor?

Yes, providing he has a Sky+HD box (one that can record) and not a SkyHD box, which is connected to a TV in another room by coax cable, he can use a 'magic eye' such as this, to remotely control it.
