Beta support means a version will be made available for customers who wish to test the software before the official release.  From the tablet update statement:

"In the Beta trial for Phase 1 our goal is to support devices from Samsung, Asus, Google Nexus, and Sony.  The customer beta will be accessible via Sky Go’s Google+ group, and a link will be made available via the Sky Help Forum before the trial begins."

What is not clear yet is which devices in particular from those suppliers will be supported.

As TM2009 says, it allows those who wish to test it in advance, however you'd be expected to feedback to Sky and let them know how things go. You should also expect the service to at it's extreme be buggy/crash or have imperfections and they would ask that you help them and us, by telling Sky about it.

So, it will allow you access to test the App in advance - the more people who agree to do it, the better, as everyone's device/s will be set up differently.

The 'we donot have any info, is not good enough. Are sky actually developing sky go for the Samsung Tab range or not?  If yes then how long?  If the answer is no just say so and we can all get on with our lives!

Have you seen the statements from the Product Director? It confirms the app is in development at the moment and a beta is scheduled for September.

Hello everyone,

I have taken the decision to close this thread.

The principle reason for this is that it contains a lot of info that is not up to date. It is currently the largest thread on this board and is consistently on the front page.  Customers are looking to this thread for the latest updates on Sky Go tablet development but it is not very easy to find the latest information in amongst the discussion.

We have an initial statement from the Managing Director for the Product Design & Development of Sky Go here.  The linked post contains the initial statement as well as a followup statement for planned development through 2013 into 2014.

We welcome further discussion on the topic of Sky Go & tablet support, this thread will stay on the forums and will continue to be searchable.

Below is a simplified roadmap taken from the official statements from Alun Webber at the above link.
