PIN protection

I am new to Sky and had a new Sky+HD box installed recently.  So far only one problem. I have set up a manual record to record a BBC One (not HD) pre watershed programme.  It has recorded correctly every evening but when I come to watch it- usually later that evening -it wants a PIN input.  I have set and saved all PIN off settings (no kids) and searched the manual  and checked the options on manual set up and found no advice.  How can I stop it needing a PIN every time?

Re: PIN protection

Hi Redriverbirder,

If you set up a manual recording, you will be asked to enter your PIN number to be able to play the content back.

Here is some examples where a PIN number may be asked for:

  • Material recorded shown on a locked channel at any time.
  • Material recorded shown after 8pm on post watershed locked channel.
  • Material rated and relative rating restriction in place.
  • Material rated and played back out of watershed.
  • Material recorded via a manual record.

Thanks,

Re: PIN protection

Give a planner rebuild a try:

If you have turned the pin request to off it should only ask you for it if you are viewing a age restricted film/program prior to the watershed and by doing this it might correct the error on your box.

Re: PIN protection

Rebuilt planner. No difference. Tried turning PIN off each option and also all. Still no change.  Software was updated by engineer on installation on March 7.  Any other ideas?

Re: PIN protection

If you haven't got much in your planner then a full reset might be another option but this will set the box back to the state it was in when you first got it so it will delete any series links you have in place and it will also delete any recordings you have in your planner.
