Error 401

I keep getting this message when trying to access a web page:

The server _________________at SKY Router requires a username and password.

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).

When this is opened in a window I've tried inserting my Sky Username and Password but nothing happens. Can you please advise? I also get a a page with 'Error 401'   :smileysad:

Hi: You may need to re-boot your Sky Sagem Wireless Router if this persists. As this is a Sky Sagem Wireless Router/browser issue which occurs during regular web browsing with the Sky Sagem Router!

- Also any automatic login popup box being presented to you during your regular browsing is not right as you're not supposed to be presented with any auto log-in popups during any regular browsing while using the Sky Sagem Wireless Router at all!

I've had these crazy sorts of errors when I was still with Sky Broadband but as to the exact web-site error codes I couldn't remember what numbers these all were! But in a nut-shell - Here's what to do when you get these!

your quote - "The server _________________at SKY Router requires a username and password.

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).

When this is opened in a window I've tried inserting my Sky Username and Password but nothing happens. Can you please advise? I also get a a page with 'Error 401'   :smileysad:"

If it's just only happening with any sites when you open up the web browser - then just close it and please don't input any of your Sky User ID info in there no matter what sites gets presented to you when web-browsing:

Also do try to let Sky know about the error possibly by an e-mail to Sky, pickup the phone & get Sky to fix it yesterday !!! If neither works at all, you'll just have to rely upon the following info - I've provided!

Firstly, clear out all cookies + browsing history within your browsers and set your browsers to automatically remove all cookies + browsing history when browsing is complete - meaning every time time you close your browser the internet explorer 8/9 will remove these by auto means!

To do this go into your control panel in Windows 7/vista & in there click upon the Internet Explorer icon. Once opened you can select  the General Tab & select the Delete icon to open up this folder. Once in there, please do check all (6) of these boxes for the IE 8 browser or all of these for the IE9 browser et cetera!

Secondly, please now do select Internet Explorer 9 localized language download as follows:smileyembarrassed: Download languages for Internet Explorer 9 - Microsoft Windows http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/downloads/ie-9/worldwide-languages

Please do check this out! As all Sky Web-Sites are now mainly using the Internet Explorer 9 browser:smileyembarrassed:

lternative web browsers & e-mail programs:smileyembarrassed: Mozilla Firefox 3.6.13 + Mozilla Thunderbird v3.1.7 & Opera 11.01!

Mozilla Thunderbird v3.1.7 - http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/all.html

Opera browser v11.01 - http://www.opera.com/index.dml

Lastly, make sure to install the latest Java as well!

You can call Sky Broadband Support on 08442414141 and select option (3) then option (1) & get these guys to sort this out for you asap! You may need to contact Sky Broadband Support via the web http://www.sky.com/helpcentre/contact-us/index.html & supply your problems to "Sky Broadband" Support to deal with as well.

Thanks. Xen.
