Can i recover recorded programmes from an old Sky + box?

Sorry for a very similar question, but it wouldn't let me ask another question on the same string after a reply.......

So I can only watch the programmes recorded if the sky+ box is reconnected and the original card inserted................. can I remove the hard drive and use it in a disc caddy and play it through the new sky + box or on a laptop via USB?

Unfortunately not. Much of the data on the Sky box hard drive is encrypted, and requires the key contained on your viewing card to decrypt it.
